You know you live in Canada when...

Dear Jesus -- Thank You for the changing of the seasons and the enjoyment of snow in winter. I pray that I will always look to the weather with gratitude and thanksgiving. In Jesus' name I pray.

The thermostat sat at 0 degrees today and I rejoiced! Balmy weather for February in Canada. It was wonderful to take the dog for a walk without wearing leggings under my track pants (just the usual snowpants over them).
What "small" pleasures can you be grateful for?

Tip #23: Celebrate goals reached
Every time you reach a goal, celebrate. Reward ideas may include making a long-distance phone call, treating yourself to a long bubble bath, getting a pedicure, facial or massage, buying an extravagant bouquet, or subscribing to an exercise magazine.

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment (1 Timothy 6:17 NIV).

Happy Belated New Year!

Dear Father -- As we enter yet another year, I pray Your hand will be upon me in all that I do. In Jesus' name, I pray.

Wow, here we are into the second month of 2007. It's hard to keep up. With the new year, I've started a new health routine. I've discovered that I am no longer self-motivated, and with admitting this, I've been able to look to external sources of motivation. One such thing is to lead an exercise class...I must attend because I am the instructor. No excuses, I gotta go.
How is your 2007 shaping up?

Tip: Cut back
You can eat anything you want -- not food is taboo -- just in moderation. Choose smaller portion sizes by cutting back a little at a time. Do not put more on the table than you want to eat at that meal and take away leftovers and unfinished dinners.

You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised (Hebrews 10:36 NIV.)
